Edith Ann Lockhart

Obituary Edith Ann Willis Lockhart, 81, of Beaufort, died Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Crystal Coast Hospice House, Newport. Her funeral service will be held 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 7, at Brooks Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Patterson officiating. The interment will follow at Ocean View Cemetery, Beaufort. She was born May 21, 1934 in Beaufort to William Howard Willis and Fannie Pake Willis. Edith was employed with Blue Bell for many years. When she began staying home she always had a craft in the works. She loved quilting, crocheting, baking and made many wedding cakes through the years. She was featured in the December 2011 Our State Magazine for her original crocheted angels that were sold all over the United States. She was married for 43 years to her high school sweetheart, Donald who cared for her without complaint in declining years. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Donald Earl Lockhart; daughters, Laura E. Gillikin and husband Larry of Beaufort, Edith Riffe and husband Matt of Beaufort, and Donna Lockhart of Beaufort; grandchildren, Kimberly Piner of Beaufort, Shannon Nelson and husband Anthony of Beaufort, Will Riffe of Statesville, Kyndal Respers of Beaufort, Abby Moore of Beaufort, and Caleb Strickland of Morehead City; six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, her daughter, Rebecca Lynn Riffe, and brothers, Kenneth H. Willis and William H. Willis, preceded her in death. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 401 Harrison Oaks Blvd., Suite #200, Cary, NC 27513.
