Eddie Dwight "Ike" O'Neal

Obituary Eddie Dwight "Ike" ONeal, 70, of Newport died Friday, March 24, 2017, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Beaufort, with the Rev. John B. Carlisto officiating. A reception will follow in the church parish hall. He was born August 18, 1946 in Fayetteville to Hubert and Myrtle Carter ONeal. Ike served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. He retired from civil service, MCAS Cherry Point, as an aircraft engine mechanic. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed observing wildlife and feeding his "critters". He is survived by his wife, Helen S. ONeal; sister, Sally Hardy of Norfolk, VA; brother, Oren ONeal of Charlotte, NC. He loved being Uncle Ike to his special nieces and nephews: Kimberly Knight, Pam Lewis, Greg Lewis, Troy Alphin, Corey Alphin, April Alphin, Aaron Strickland, Ginnie Beverly, Jeremy Hunter, Zack Hunter and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, his brother, Jeffrey ONeal, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends Monday, March 27, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
