Obituary Duke Stephen Daugherty, 51, of Williston, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at One Harbor Church, Morehead City, with the Rev. Bryan Hart officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Duke was born in Sea Level, NC on March 7, 1964 to Clyde Wesley Daugherty and Annis Lee Willis Daugherty. He loved the water and was an avid fisherman. Duke was an avid Duke University Basketball fan and during his illness stayed up to watch his team win the National Championship. He worked for Luther L. Smith & Sons Seafood aboard the Tweedles & Donna for 7 years after which he enrolled at Craven Community College where he was the Student Body President and earned an Associate Degree in electronics. In March of 1994 he was hired as a student trainee at Fleet Readiness Center East at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. He was promoted to Aircraft Oxygen Equipment Repairer Apprentice in July 1995, Aircraft Oxygen Equipment Repairer in November 1997, Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic in February 2000, Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic Supervisor in October 2006 and assumed control of the Aircraft Ordnance and Cryogenics Shop. In February 2008 he assumed control of the Combined Aircraft Electrical Repair and Ordnance Shop and retired as the Aircraft Ordnance System Mechanic Supervisor in October 2014. At retirement Duke was designated as the Unit Explosive Safety Representative, Explosive Ordnance Qualification/Certification Board Chairman, Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives Accountability Officer, Fleet Readiness Center East/Explosive System Checkout Program Manager, Ordnance Qualification/Certification Official for civilian personnel, and for Fleet Readiness Center East Naval Aviation Maintenance Program he was program manager for Aircraft Armament Equipment, Aviation Life Support Systems, Explosives Handling Personnel Qualification and Certification, Naval Ordnance Maintenance Management Airborne Weapons Corrective Action, and Aviators Breathing Oxygen Surveillance. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Ronnie Boston Daugherty; mother, Annis Daugherty of Sea Level; sister, Teresa Daugherty of Beaufort and her children, Landon Gillikin and Peyton Gillikin; stepmother, Catherine Daugherty of Atlantic; sister, Vanessa Daugherty of Atlantic and her son, Sheldon Daugherty; brother, Osborne Harvey of Atlantic and his daughter, Amanda Harvey; borrowed child, Molly Andrews of Beaufort; uncle, Pat Daugherty and wife, Connie, of Cove City; aunts, Gail Cox and husband, Don, of Cedar Point and Deloris Rose of Atlantic; mother-in-law, Bertha B. Boston of Beaufort; sisters-in-law, Belinda Buster and husband, John, of Morehead City and their children, Joanna Parsons, Jonathan Buster, and Jeremy Buster; Beverly Boston and her husband, Jan Roar-Ludvenson of Morehead City and their children, Sean Unwin, Stephanie Bryant, Tara Fischgrabe, and Joshua Angley; brothers-in-law, Colonel John R. Giltz and wife, Gioia, of Fairfax, VA and their children, Wade Giltz, Luke Giltz, and Caroline Giltz; John L. Giltz and wife, Crystal, of Irmo, SC and their children, Chris Waters, Monte Waters, Isabella Giltz, and Alexandria Giltz; beloved pets, Tucker, his bestest friend in the whole wide world, Sookie daddys little girl, and his horse, Cadillac Cash. He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Wesley Daugherty; maternal grandparents, Delmas and Selma Willis; paternal grandparents, Clyde and Ruby Daugherty; step maternal grandparents, Bill and Mamie Willis; uncle, Jack Rose; father-in-law, Ronnie Lee Boston; brothers-in-law, Jamie Boston and Herbert Boston.
