Obituary 1-888-579-7953 Code: 2002089P Dorothy Jean Linberg Sieker, 91, of Morehead City, NC, formerly of Durham, NC, died July 4, 2017 at Snug Harbor, Sea Level, NC. She was born in St Louis, MO, May 14, 1926 to the late Roy Hunter and Letitia King Linberg. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Dr. Herbert Sieker, Professor Emeritus, Duke University School of Medicine. The couple was inseparable - an avid fisherman, Dr. Sieker called his wife "the catch of his life." Dottie was a Vice-president of Maplewood Citizenship National Bank in St. Louis. After her marriage and move to Durham in 1948, she was one of two employees in the Personnel Department at Duke Medical Center. She sang in the Duke Chapel Choir. Following her daughter's birth, Dottie, a devoted wife, also became a devoted mother volunteering with organizations to "better her community." She served as President of the Durham - Orange County Medical Society Auxiliary, President of the Hope Valley Garden Club, President of the Durham Kennel Club, Secretary of the Durham - Orange County Heart Association, and as a member of the Board of Durham Academy. Dottie was her daughter's Brownie and Girls Scout troop leader. Quite a talented athlete, she taught her daughter and grand- daughters to swim, play tennis, fish and boat. Dottie was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Durham and attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Beaufort, NC. She and her husband had been members of Hope Valley Country Club, Durham and the Coral Bay Club, Atlantic Beach, NC. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Jean Linberg, her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Sieker and Dyches V. Boddiford of Marietta, GA., two grand-daughters, Laura Martin Boddiford of Miami, FL, and Dorothy Sieker Boddiford and fianc James Clifford Kuni III of Marietta, GA., as well as several nieces. Dr. and Mrs. Sieker will be inurned during a private service at St Stephens Episcopal Church in Durham, NC. The family is grateful for her loving caregiver, Becky Paul, the staff at Snug Harbor, and Father John Carlisto. Memorial donations may be made to the Herbert O. Sieker, M.D., Endowment Fund, c/o Morgan Pope, Duke Health Development, Durham, NC 27701, or to St. Paul's Episcopal Church 215 Ann Street, Beaufort, NC, 28516.
