Dorothy "Dot" Fulcher

Obituary Dorothy Hamilton Fulcher, 84, of Alexandria, MN, died peacefully Sunday, April 15, 2018, at her home in Alexandria. "Dot" was born April 24, 1933 in Whitehall, Wisconsin to Ernest and Nora (Moen) Hamilton. She married Thomas Crump Fulcher of Morehead City, NC on February 23, 1957. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2017. Dot is survived by her son, Thomas Hamilton Fulcher (Donna) of Peoria, IL and her daughter Christy Lynn Meier (Gene) of Alexandria, MN. Also surviving are sister-in-law Carolyn Ricks Moran of Morehead City, NC, sister-in-law Margaret (Peg) Klein Fulcher of Greenville, NC, lifelong friend Ruth Bridgewater of Carrollton, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her mother, father, five brothers Ernest, Stanley, Glenn, Robert and Phillip, and two sisters Edith Hamilton McKendry and Verna Hamilton Cantrell preceded her in death. After graduating from high school, Dot left Wisconsin and traveled all over the U.S. selling magazines to medical offices and other businesses. While living in Morehead City, NC, she spotted Thomas "Crump" Fulcher who was home on leave from the Navy. He soon became the love of her life, and they were married for more than 60 years. Dot was an active Real Estate Broker for 20 years in Peoria, IL. She was a member of the Peoria Board of Realtors and a graduate of the Realtors Institute, holding a GRI designation. She completed her Brokers education in Real Estate at Bradley University in Peoria. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Peoria for many years. She was a member of the Immanuel Ladies Guild, and chairperson of the Immanuel Braille work group for several years. The group worked on religious Braille books each month at Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria. She was a current member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria, and attended church services at Grand Arbor in Alexandria, MN. Dot and Tom enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends. After retirement, she traveled extensively with her husband throughout the U.S and Norway. They relocated to Alexandria, MN during the summer of 2017 to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law. Dot enjoyed reading, and she was particularly interested in new and alternative medicine. She liked to research this topic extensively by reading medical journals and also information on the internet. Dot was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was generous, compassionate, understanding, and always had a kind word for others. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at her sister-in-laws church, First United Methodist Church in Morehead City, NC on Monday April 23rd at 2:00 PM. There will be a visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. A private graveside service for the family will follow the service with interment at Bayview Cemetery. A memorial service for Dot and Tom will be held at Grand Arbor in Alexandria, MN on May 5th at 3:00 PM. Condolences may be sent to Christy Meier and Tom Fulcher, 1496 E.
