Doris Virginia Wagner

October 17, 1926 — March 16, 2024

Doris Virginia Wagner, nee Butler passed away on March 16, 2024 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, North Carolina.


Ginny was the youngest child, born October 17,1926, to parents Theodore Arthur Butler and Louise Ida (Kroeber) Butler in Bayonne, New Jersey. She married Albert Herman Wagner on September 14, 1947 in Jersey City, New Jersey. and they resided on Dunkerhook Road, Paramus, NJ until retirement. Ginny worked full time for Paramus Metal Company for 40 years as the office manager and tax accountant.


Ginny was an active member of the Fairlawn Dutch Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday School, a member of the Lady's Guild and a deaconess. Ginny and Al volunteered and directed the Christian Endeavor Youth Teen Group in Fairlawn, NJ for many years.


After retiring, Ginny and Al moved to Newport, NC. Ginny volunteered at Carteret General Hospital, Morehead, NC in the X-ray department for many years. She enjoyed her Thursday Bridge Club and entertaining with friends. She was a beautiful caring person, with charm and grace and just the right amount of spunk to be funny and witty. Ginny will always be remembered as a person who loved to love people.


Ginny was predeceased by her husband Al, brothers Edwin and Ellsworth, sister Elenor, and niece Sandra Ellen (Butler)Vanetta. She is survived by nephews Brian Wagner, Ellsworth Milton Butler JR, and Roger Butler and niece Norell Bahrs and many grand nieces and nephews.


To all those who cared for Ginny at the Cottages of Swansboro and Crystal Coast Hospice, special friends James and Anna Fournier, Al and Christine Leary, Althea and Barry Toth, Shirley Garner, Donna Heisman, Jean and Roy Worley and Pastor Patrick Whaley, a heartfelt thanks from our family.


A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at First Methodist Church, 900 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Crystal Coast Hospice Center, 100 Big Rock Weigh, Newport, NC 28570
