Obituary Doris Jean Scott, 82, of Newport, died Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Croatan Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Newport. Mrs. Scott was born June 2, 1932, in Salem, Indiana, to Lauren Hauger and Lottie Mae Shrun Hauger. She was very family oriented, willing to sacrifice for others a true giver. She was a loving wife, mother and a super grandmother. Mrs. Scott is survived by her daughter, Kimberly S. Settle; son-in-law, Ronald Settle, both of Newport; sisters, Wilma Maynard of California, Erma Standiford, Barbara Gilbert, and one brother, Bill Hauger all of Indiana; two grandsons, Ray Settle and Josh Settle, both of Newport. In addition to her parents, her husband, MGSGT Miller Woodson Scott and siblings, Carolyn Elliott, Margaret Morris, Lee Hauger and Mike Hauger precede her in death. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, January 21, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home.
