Doris Marie Wright

Obituary Doris Blake Wright, 89, of Beaufort, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Carteret Health Care of Morehead City surrounded by her adoring family. She was born June 5, 1933 the only child of James Roland and Allie Temple Blake of Chapel Hill. She met her husband Kenneth Wright while he was a student at UNC and they were married August 25, 1951 thus beginning a marriage that lasted for 67 years, only ending when he passed away on November 18, 2018. Her children and grandchildren were Doris's greatest joy and she never hesitated to brag about them and their accomplishments to anyone who would listen. When anyone asked her how she was feeling she always replied 'As well as could be expected of an old fat woman!' Her occupation, 'Domestic Goddess' She loved to bake and shared her rum cakes and chocolate pies with those she loved and also her chicken and dumplings with family and friends. Reading and working crossword puzzles were her hobbies and she delighted in sharing her books with others. A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home of Morehead City with Rev. Mark Tolley officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 at the funeral home on Sunday. She is survived by her son, David Wright of Beaufort; daughter, Betsey Wright Penney and husband Michael of Raleigh; grandchildren, Stephen Penney and wife, Kat of Raleigh; Haley Penney Tolley and husband, Jonathan of Huntersville; Aaron C. Wright and wife, Lisa of Wake Forest; Caroline Wright Carroll and husband, Kevin of Nolensville, TN; great grandchildren; Peyton Cole, and Lyndon Wright of Wake Forest; and Luke and Levi Carroll of Nolensville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth and son, Randy.
