Donna Mae Powers Hebert (A-Bear), 85, of Newport, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at her daughter’s home.
Donna was a cherished member of the Grace Baptist Church of Newport for over 46 years. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, dedicated service, and a heart full of love for her family and friends.
Donna's career was as remarkable as her spirit. She began her professional journey at the Pentagon in Washington, DC, a position that spoke to her dedication and work ethic. Her career path then led her to Cherry Point, where she continued to exemplify excellence and commitment. Eventually, she found her way to NOAA at Pivers Island, where she contributed significantly to the organization's mission. Her colleagues will remember her as a steadfast and dependable presence, always ready to lend a hand or offer a word of encouragement.
Outside of her professional life, Donna was a beacon of love and warmth. She embraced her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with joy and boundless energy. Her family was the center of her universe, and she poured her heart into creating a home filled with laughter, comfort, and cherished memories. Her guidance and nurturing spirit have left an indelible mark on her loved ones, who will carry her teachings and love with them always.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Amariah Garner Cemetery in Newport.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cyndi Hall and husband, Mike of Newport; Tonya Whaley and husband, Philip of Newport; grandson, Luther Forsythe and wife, Amanda of Fuquay-Varina; grandson, Jaymie Forsythe and wife, Kristina of Newport; granddaughter, Mandy Forsythe of Newport; grandson, Ethan Ballou and wife, Cassidy of Mill Creek; six great grandchildren; Chase Kreiger of Newport; Austin Forsythe of Newport; Aubrey Forsythe of Newport; Memphis Forsythe of Fuquay-Varina; Maddox Forsythe of Fuquay-Varina; Camden Ballou of Mill Creek; brother, Bobby Powers of Caryville, TN; sister, Yvonne Cosner of Melborn, FL; sister, Peggy Blankinship of Caryville, TN; sister, Lynn Volack of Yuma, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Ollie Powers; her husband, Earl Hebert; two granddaughters, Crystal and Jaylee Hebert.
