Donald Carroll

Obituary Donald "Donnie" Woodrow Carroll, 67, of Newport, formerly of Zebulon, died Thursday, November 2, 2017 at his home. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Montford Point Road, Jacksonville. Mr. Carroll was born January 27, 1950 in Raleigh, to Calvin Woodrow Carroll and Dorothy Eason Carroll. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He is a Purple Heart recipient and served actively in two tours during the war. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Wanda A. Carroll of Newport; a son, Jonathan Allen Carroll and fianc Rachel of Glendale AZ; a daughter Kelsie Marie Carroll of Middlesex; two brothers, Ronald Lee Carroll and wife Virginia of Wendell, and Kenneth Wayne Carroll and wife Pam of Kernersville; two step-children, Chelsea Hilsinger and husband Steve of Cape Carteret and Vanessa Smith of Newport,; daughter-in-law Maria Carroll of Raleigh, and eight grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two children, Jared Donald Carroll and Ana Marie Carroll, and one brother Phillip Moses Carroll.
