Dolores Meelheim

Obituary Dolores Frick Meelheim, loving mother, grandmother and friend, passed away July 8, 2014 at the age of 81. She was born on November 26, 1932 in South Shore, Kentucky. She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Richard Y. Meelheim (Dick) and her parents Pauline Adkins Frick and Eugene Frick. She is survived by her three children, Helen Diane Meelheim of Beaufort, North Carolina, Richard Allen Meelheim (wife Kathy) of Destin, Florida, Nancy Meelheim Gardner (husband David) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and her three grandchildren, Meredith Meelheim and Richard Meelheim of Birmingham, Alabama and Haley Gardner of Raleigh, North Carolina. Dolores was a long time resident of Beaufort, North Carolina where she worked as a docent at the Beaufort Historical Association for many years. She volunteered with the Carteret County Friends of the Library where she worked many weekends at the Book Wagon. She was active in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, serving on the Altar Guild, the Vestry, and was an active member of the Daughters of the King and the bereavement support group. Before moving to Beaufort in 1989, Dolores and Dick lived in Kinston, North Carolina for 25 years and were active in St. Mary's Episcopal Church where Dolores served as chair person for the Alter Guild. She was also a girl scout leader for many years and was involved with the Dirt Daubers Garden Club, winning many awards for flower arranging.
