November 13, 1952 — October 29, 2016

Obituary 1-888-579-7953 Code: 2002089P David "Dave" Joseph Sauter, 63, of Marshallberg, North Carolina, passed away, Saturday, October 29, 2016 at his home. Dave is survived by his partner Jeannie Ferris and his loyal companion Scout; his daughter Savannah Willey of Saco, ME and stepson Cody Leach of Rochester, NY; grandson "Captain" Jack Willey of Saco, ME; siblings Steven Sauter and his wife Sally of Northampton, MA, Paul Sauter and his wife Annie of Oneonta, NY and Linda Sauter of Watervliet, NY; as well several nieces and nephews. His parents Anton "Tony" and Lorraine Sauter, as well as his brother James "Jimmy" Sauter, preceded him in death. Dave was born on November 13, 1952 in Newport, RI and his family moved to Hartford, CT. Dave was an avid fisherman, a dreamer and a wanderer who set out for adventure very early in his life. His travels brought him all over the country where he collected characters into his extended family. He settled for a while in Maine and then later North Carolina, always staying in touch with old friends while making new. Dave was a talented artist and singer and loved the ocean dearly. He was also a talented teller of tales and, like any good fisherman, he never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Dave was a charming man that was loved by all and will be fondly remembered as "The Captain", "Davey" and "Izzy". A celebration of Daves life will be held in the spring.
