Daniel Amick

Obituary Daniel Chadwick Amick, 91, of Newport died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Carteret General Hospital surrounded by his children. At Mr. Amicks request, there will be no services. Mr. Amick was born November 13, 1922 , in Alamance County, NC, the eldest son of Grady and Florence Ferguson Amick. Dan proudly served in the Navy during WWII. After returning home, he worked for Burlington Industries in Wake Forest, Altavista, VA and Cheraw, SC. While there, he developed patents that were applicable to fiberglass materials in all areas of manufacturing. After 37 years, Dan retired to his favorite vacation destination, Atlantic Beach, NC. He enjoyed trolling for spanish and kings, playing golf and took pride in his vegetable garden and well-manicured lawn. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Parrish and husband, Wayne, of Newport, son, Danny Lee Amick and wife, Robin, of Williamsburg, VA and two grandchildren Jennifer and Blake Weeds. In addition to his parents, his wife, Betty Lee Thompson Amick, daughter, Linda Weeda and his three brothers, David, George and John, preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to a veterans charity of ones choice to support our veterans.
