Morehead City

Cynthia Sue Marchione, almost age 70 passed away October 8th at Carteret Health Care hospital in Morehead City, North Carolina. Although her death was unexpected, it is joyous because she is now reunited with her heavenly family.

Cindy was born at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland in November 1956 to Richard and Nancy Copeland (McGrew). She enjoyed a happy childhood; one of her fondest memories was living across the street from her elementary school and walking home at lunch time and having lunch with her mom. During her school years, she enjoyed playing the flute and twirling the baton. Cindy Graduated from John Marshall High school in 1973. She worked at the Merchant’s Exchange in Portland, OR as a Marine Department Operator, contacting all interested parties in regard to ship movements along the Columbia River system.

While at a family wedding she met the LOVE of her life Curt Marchione; and married in 1979 in Gresham OR. The jewel of her eye Rebecca was born in 1981. They moved to Washington State for Curts Job. Following the move, Cindy enjoyed being a housewife and stay at home mom. Cindy would often be found volunteering her time in whatever school Rebecca was attending. Cindy taught Sunday school at Manette Community Church for over 10 years where she was a member for over 40 years. She was a member of Hope Circle for over 20 years. She was most renowned in the Hope Circle for planning the scavenger hunts (some may still be looking for the thread).

She enjoyed creating and putting together bulletin boards as well as decorating for different church events. She delighted in many types of crafts to include, stamping to make greeting cards and jewelry making with beads; she was very talented. Cindy’s family was very important to her and when her parents' health started failing she would often travel back to Oregon to help take care of them.

Some of Cindy's past times included beach combing in Brookings, Or; Oregon Sand Dunes; Washington state; Hawaii and North Carolina; camping at the Oregon sand dunes and along the Chetco river.

She is preceded in death by her husband, father, sister, and mother.

She is survived by her daughter Rebecca (husband Brandon) grandchildren Bryan, Marissa, Braydon, and Kayla; Brother Mark Copland (wife Cindy) Niece Sarah McKinley (husband Bryan) great-niece Emma-Grace; great-nephew William; Aunt Jennifer Bettencourt (husband Fill) and Mr. Milo her cat.

Anyone who knew Cindy knew of her witty humor. She used to say, “you must be able to laugh at yourself.”
