Obituary Clifton Ward Gurganus, 85, of Morehead City died Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Carteret Health Care. His funeral service will be on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Glad Tidings Church, 4621 Country Club Road, Morehead City, with the Pastors, Tim Marriner and Shad Barrow, officiating. Burial will follow the service in Bay View Cemetery. Mr. Gurganus was born in Martin County on August 6, 1930, to Redden Columbus and Mittie Meeks Gurganus. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was in the construction business in Carteret County for a number of years before his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Clara Bell Gurganus; one daughter, Charlene G. Strong, and her husband, Edmund; 2 sons, Redden E. "Buddy" Gurganus and Eugene Gurganus, all of Morehead City; 4 grandchildren, Jessica Strong, Hannah Strong, Jason Redden Gurganus and David Gurganus. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gurganus was preceded in death by his sisters, Gertie Swain and Eula Mae Bullock, and brothers, Moses Gurganus, Vernon Gurganus, and Floyd Gurganus.
