Clawson Albert Hicks

Obituary Clawson Albert Hicks, 89, of Swansboro, formally of Pine Knoll Shores and of Raleigh, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at his home. His service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brooks Funeral Home chapel in Morehead City. The Rev. Patrick Whaley will officiate. Burial will follow in Seaside Memorial Park in Swansboro. Clawson was born May 18, 1929, in Garner. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, Class of 1952. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Before retirement he owned Capital Signs in Raleigh and L&M Pizza on Emerald Isle. Clawson was a member of the Lions Club, The Salvation Army and the North Carolina Shriners. He is survived by his wife, Geri Hicks of the home; his children, Rhonda Kornegay and husband Rob of Winston-Salem, Linda Hicks of Chadburn, Al Hicks of Raleigh, Mark Hicks and his partner Debbie of Carolina Beach and Brian Watkins and Sandi Watkins and husband Nick, all of Swansboro; his siblings, Yates Whitley and wife Brenda of Garner and Willie Whitley and wife Laura of Mountain City, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Clawson was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Callie Hicks; two brothers, Huey Hicks and Wiley Hicks; a sister Elsie Whitley; and a son, Charles Watkins Jr. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
