Obituary Carroll Ann Downum Tenney, 84, of Beaufort died Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Crystal Bluffs Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, at Ann Street United Methodist Church, Beaufort, with the Rev. Taylor Mills officiating. She was born February 21, 1933 to Otis Brantley and MayBelle Carroll Willis. She always felt blessed to be a native of Beaufort. Carroll Ann was a beloved wife, mother and friend, and held intermittent employment positions including the office of Carteret County Tax Collector. She was always active in her church attending First United Methodist Church and Ann Street United Methodist Church. She was known for her quick smile, effusive personality and extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcome. The family would like to thank Jean Bell, her longtime caregiver, for her love and devotion. They would also like to thank the staff of Crystal Bluffs for their years of care, and especially for their kindness and compassion for Carroll Ann and her family during the last days. She is survived by her daughters, Ashlie Downum Mann and husband Barry of Raleigh and Kyndal Downum of Wilmington; son, William Brantley Downum and wife Cynthia of Beaufort; and six granddaughters, Leslie Downum Liebert and husband Partick, McKinley Mann Johnson and husband Robert, Grace Mann, Lizzie Mann, Hannah Garner, Andrea Garner; two great-grandsons, Brantley Thomas Liebert and Cross Johnson . The family will receive friends at the Eure Building of Ann Street United Methodist Church following the service. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, E. W. "Bill" Downum, Jr. and Jerome Beasley Tenney.
