Obituary Callie Gertrude "Trudy" Lewis age 74, of Morehead City, passed away on October 28, 2017 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House. A private family memorial service is planned for a later date. Callie was born in Beaufort, NC to James Lawing and Gloria Joyce Rumfelt on May 9, 1943. She went to Swansboro High School and graduated in 1961. She went on to earn a degree in Education from Campbell College and started her career as a middle school teacher in Language Arts. She loved being a teacher, and after retirement, continued to volunteer and spend time with students through tutoring and helping teachers with their classes. She was an avid reader of all genres, and would have a book beside her at all times. She was well traveled, including multiple trips to China and exploring Europe while living in England. She loved food, and her travels gave her the opportunity to explore and appreciate different cuisines. Being from this area, she loved the coast and sitting at Fort Macon and listening to the ocean. Callie continued to plan and dream of trips she wanted to take, and loved her time with family and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Crystal Coast Hospice House for their support in her final days. Callie is survived by her son Jonathan Lewis of Morehead City, her sister and brother-in-law, Denise and Ben Ball; her brother and sister-in-law, Jim Rumfelt and Anechy-Padron- Ramirez; her sister Michelle Manley; her grandson Andrew Lewis; and her nephews, Michael and wife Jessica Ball and Benjamin Ball. Callie is preceded in death by her parents, James and Gloria Rumfelt; a sister, Claudia Wright and ex-husband Reginald F. Lewis, Jr. MEMORIAL DONATIONS In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Crystal Coast Hospice House, 100 Big Rock Weigh, Newport, NC 28570 Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Home and Crematory of Morehead City.
