Beverly West Edwards

September 22, 1954 — September 27, 2024

Havelock

Beverly Rae West Edwards, 70, of Havelock, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Cherry Point Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Havelock.

A Celebration of Beverly's life will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home in Morehead City, with Reverend Darrell Williams officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.

Beverly was born in Morehead City on September 22, 1954, to Leonard Ray West and Betty Clyde Lewis. She came from a big family as she would eventually have 2 sisters and 4 brothers. Beverly attended Franklin Memorial United Methodist Church growing up but later on started going to First Baptist Church of Morehead City, where her mom was attending. Although Beverly did not finish high school, later in life she went to Carteret Community College where she received her GED.

Beverly worked as a cook and dietary helper at Carteret General Hospital and Harborview Nursing Home. She also volunteered at Hope Mission for over ten years and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Beverly loved John Wayne movies, Little House on the Prairie, and Bonanza. She loved game shows particularly Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right. She was a good cook and could cook a "mean" fudge! Her granddaughter, Grace, loved to eat her rutabagas and she loved to cook them for her! She also loved to go to the Alive at 5 concerts in Morehead and got quite upset if she missed one so we all made sure she didn't.

Beverly is survived by her son, Matthew James Edwards and his significant other, Heather Clemenic of Newport; her daughter, Bethani Joy Murray of Havelock; her sister, Julia Lewis Eskew of Havelock, two brothers, John Kenneth Merrill of Morehead City and Daniel Scott Merrill of Newport; two grandsons, Devin Maurice Murray of Havelock, and Matthew Jace Edwards of Newport; one granddaughter, Julia Grace Murray of Havelock; one great grandson, Braylin O'Neal Murray of Havelock; her maternal aunt, Beadie G. Perry of Newport and an array of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Ray West, and Betty Clyde Merrill, brothers, David Wright West and James Maurice West, sister, Robin Elaine Merrill West, maternal grandmother, Julia G. Lewis, paternal grandmother, Mary West and niece, Mary Courtney West.

Flowers are welcome or donations can be made to The Hope Mission, 1410 Bridges Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.

Condolences and life tributes may be sent to the family at www.noebrooks.net.
