Betty Nance

Obituary Betty Jean Nance, 88, of Beaufort died Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Crystal Coast Hospice House, Newport. The family will hold a private service at a later date. She was born September 12, 1928 in Sunflower, MS to James Dace Miller and John Marie Fant Miller. Jean served as the President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jones Austin VFW Post from 1962 - 1963. Jean worked as the childrens immunization aide with the Carteret County Health Department and as Dr. Luther Fulchers office nurse. Worked as a teller with Cooperative Savings and Loan with whom she became the Manager of the Beaufort Branch of Cooperative Savings and Loan where she retired in 1993. She is survived by her sons, David L. Nance and wife Janette "JJ" of Stella and Dace A. Nance and wife Cindy of Conway, SC; sisters, Sarah L. Miller of Beaufort and Gayle C. Saint-Amand and husband Jim of Mount Olive; granddaughter, Taylor Berg; great-grandson, Crayton; nieces, Gloria Herring Miller and husband Pat, Janah S. Pate, Pamela H. Howell and husband Ken; nephews, Larry Herring and Steve Saint-Amand and wife Megan; great nieces, Shanna Woodward, Madison Saint-Amand, Malone Saint-Amand, Maddox Saint-Amand, Rylee Pate, Kylie Howell; great nephew, Marshall Pate. In addition to her parents, her sister, Judith M. Herring and grandson, Brook Alan Collins, preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crystal Coast Hospice House, P. O. Box 640, Newport, NC 28570. A private service will be held by the family.
