Betty Jane Peterson

Betty Jane Peterson, 100, of Virginia Beach, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, at home.

Her graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Oceanview Cemetery in Beaufort with military honors being conferred.

She was born on January 29, 1924, in Wilmington, DE to James Robertson Hanna and Katherine Voght Hanna. Mrs. Peterson served as a Navy WAVE during WWII. She was employed as a United States Navy Supply Supervisor for the Department of Defense.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Rademacher and husband David, Janet Wagner and husband Richard, Kathleen Pawlak and husband Mark, all of Virginia Beach, VA and Peggy Turner and husband Macon of Twin Falls, ID;  daughter-in-law, Mary Miller and, step-daughter, Teresa Dukes both of Virginia Beach, VA; step-son, Kurt Peterson of Fullerton, CA; grandchildren, Jennifer Miller, Leigh Anne Ryder, Richard Evans, Matthew Kelley, Melanie Jones, Emily Evans, Maggie Turner, Joseph Pawlak and Danielle Pawlak; great grandchildren, Erin Clark, Richard Evans, Nicholas Ryder, Tyler Cubilla, Hugh Jones, Briar Jones, Gavin Finn Evans, great-great grandchildren, Rylee Evans, Jaxson and Scarett Ligon; step grandchild, Kawliga Dukes; step great grandchildren, Ethan and Sevastian Dukes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Martin Peterson, and son Thomas Miller.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Beaufort by the Sea Community Church, 214 Turner St. Beaufort, NC 28516.
