Obituary Bettie Lou Roo Grayson, 68, of Morehead City, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, December 18, 2014. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 21, at All Saints Anglican Church, 292 McCabe Road, Newport, with the rector, the Rev. David Linka officiating, assisted by the Rt. Rev. Doc Loomis and the Rev. Wayne Deane and the homilist, the Rev. C. King Cole. Burial will follow in the church columbarium. She was born May 5, 1946 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Ira Everett Barber and Daisy Leona Barber. Bettie Lou grew up in Portsmouth and attended East Carolina University. She married John H. Grayson, also of Portsmouth. They were active members of the Episcopal Church and subsequently went off to seminary and became a clergy family. Together they served The Church of Our Savior in Midlothian, Virginia, St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Morehead City, and All Saints Anglican Church in Newport. She was very gifted in many areas, among which were quilting, sewing and cooking and especially home-made soap. She was devoted to her family and had a heart for hospitality. She is survived by her husband, John and their son, Christopher; also by her sister, Anne B. Clayton of Richmond, Virginia, nieces, Jennifer A. Clayton of Richmond, Virginia, Khristanne K. Ward and husband, Timothy Steve Ward of Knoxville, Tennessee and great nieces, Emma Ward, Sara Ward and Olivia Ward as well as other aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in law, Anna Fay Grayson. A visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home and Crematory, Saturday December 20 from 6:00 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jared Olaka, c/o All Saints Anglican Church, 290 McCabe Road, Newport, NC 28570.
