Bernice '"Kenneth"' Brown

Obituary "Kenny" Brown, 76, of Newport, died February 5, 2017, at Carteret Health Care, Morehead City. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Gethsemane Memorial Park at 1:00 PM, with Brother Bob Lowery officiating. . Kenny was born in the Quewhiffle Township of Hoke County on January 15, 1941, to William and Sarah Johnson Brown. He worked for many years with the State Ports Authority as a longshoreman. He was well known in the community for playing the guitar in several local bands over the years. He was a member of the Newport VFW #8986 Auxiliary and the Newport Moose Lodge. He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Brown and Jean Brown, both of Newport; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and his beloved 4-legged companion, Daisy May. In addition to his parents, Kenny is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanie Brown, his brothers, William, Jack, Ernie and James; and sisters, Elsie Harton and Gladys Weeks.
