Bernice Hopkins

Obituary Bernice Pelletier Hopkins, 88, of Newport, died Monday, December 14, 2015, at Cherry Point Bay Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Havelock, NC. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, December 21, at the chapel of St. James United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Supplee officiating. She was born in Carteret County on September 17, 1927 to Ira Kilby Pelletier and Margaret Swinson Pelletier. Mrs. Hopkins worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier and was a homemaker. She is survived by her sons, Ronald Edward Hopkins and William David Hopkins, both of Newport, NC; sisters, Joyce Gardner of Pleasant Garden, NC, Marilyn Glidewell of Apopka, FL, and Kay Arthur of Bettie, NC; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, her husband, William Dean Hopkins, and sisters, Ruby Leavel, Margaret Gillikin, and Evelyn Foust, preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carteret County Humane Society, 853 Hibbs Road, Newport, NC 28570.
