July 5, 1967 — January 26, 2022

Obituary Benjamin "Ben" Harrison Gilmore Jr., 54, of Clayton, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2022 at UNC Rex Health Care in Raleigh. Ben began his professional career in 1986 as a Banquet/Prep Chef. It wasnt long before his talent, diligence and determination landed him the position of Sous Chef and from there on the sky was the limit. Ben became an Executive Chef by 1990. This means that within 4 short years he was managing a large crew, maintaining budgets, preparing cuisines and banquet meals, handling reports, and even making ice sculptures. Ben later became a successful entrepreneur with his private catering company, Chef B LLC. Many local businesses in the greater Raleigh area would task Ben for his culinary expertise as well as his entrepreneurial gifting. He did work for many notable local companies. With all of his talent and drive he still made time to cater and volunteer for local churches and family events. Ben was a member of the National Executive Chefs Association and The American Culinary Federation. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts in business management. Even greater than all of this, Ben was most well known for his generous spirit and heart of gold. He was truly the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back.
