Barbara Ellen Sanderson

Obituary Barbara Harrison Sanderson, 87, of Havelock passed away on December 20, 2019 at Carolina East Hospital in New Bern, surrounded by loving family. Barbara is survived by her husband of 67 years, Delbert Carl Sanderson. She was a loving Mother to three sons, Del Sanderson, his wife Suzanne, Kevin Sanderson, his wife Tracy, and Dean Sanderson, and his wife Jenny. She is also survived by four grandchildren. Barbara was from Arba, NC and was one of six children. She was preceded in death by three brothers Curtis Harrison I, Curtis Harrison II, and Zeb M. Harrison. She is survived by two brothers Quincy E. Harrison, his wife Linda and by Kenneth A. Harrison, his wife Nell, and many nieces and nephews. Barbara moved to Havelock where her and her husband started a Mobile Home Park. She was loved by many military families and tenants, which she helped get started in their early years. Many of the families kept in touch with her years later, because she left such an impression on them with her kindness and caring. Barbara also loved music and helped many new Bluegrass artists get their start at Lenoir Community College, where she was the Ambassador for the Eastern Bluegrass Association. She supported the association by booking the bands, talking up the events, networking with musicians, and just introducing people to each other, musicians and fans, she never met a stranger. Barbara was also a member of Croatan Baptist Church where she was an active member singing in the church choir. The family will hold a private service at Brooks Funeral Home in Morehead City, NC and Graveside Service to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Newport,NC.
