Asa '"Ray"' Danielson

Obituary Asa Ray Danielson, 88, of Morehead City, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at CarolinaEast Medical Center, New Bern. His funeral service is at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 11, 2017, at Brooks Funeral Home, with Rev. Darrell Williams officiating. Mr. Danielson was born in Morehead City on December 4, 1928, to John and Leah Thelma Gaskins Danielson. He graduated from Morehead High School, Class of 1947. He attended technical school after graduation. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. He retired from Cherry Point after serving more than 31 years as a Computer Systems Analyst. He was an avid sailor and Captain of his boat, "Lands End", a sail boat he and his family spent many summers on. He was also a history buff, loved airplanes, but his greatest admiration and love was to his church and his family. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Morehead City, and when anyone talked with him regarding any type of situation, his advice was always the same "Why dont you pray about it?" He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Ruby K. Danielson; daughters, Debra Danielson Slonim, Lakeland, Tennessee, and Laura Danielson Glasgow, of Newport; sisters, Mary Turnage, and husband, Lester, of Morehead City and Florence McClain, and husband, Billy, of Wilmington, NC; 3 step-children, Karl Scible of Woodbine, Maryland, William "Lee" G. Scible, Jr. and wife, Marian, and Melba B. Warner, and husband, William, all of Phoenix, Arizona; 4 grandchildren, Nicholas Slonim, and wife, Melissa, Michael Slonim, Tommy Wade, and Pamela Kassis, and husband, Moni; and numerous step-grandchildren and great- grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM on Friday. In addition to his parents, Mr. Danielson was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Willis Danielson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 810 Bridges Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.
