Anne Cox

Obituary Anne DuRelle Gholson Cox, 71, of Morehead City, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Wednesday morning, January 18, 2017. She succumbed after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Bogue Banks Baptist Church with Pastor Stephen Bath officiating. Burial will take place in Oxford, NC at a later date. Anne was born May 18, 1945 in Oxford to Grover DuRell Gholson Jr. of Oxford, NC and Audrey Main Gholson of Sydney Australia. After raising her children, Anne attended Old Dominion University majoring in early childhood education and graduating Summa Cum Laude. Anne was a smiling and encouraging face on the staff of Carteret Clinic for Adolescents & Children for over 15 years for all who entered Dr. Knelsons clinic. As a member of Bogue Banks Baptist Church, Anne was a childrens leader, bible school leader, choir member, and founding member of the ministry of visitation. Her love of the Lord was evident to all whom she met and she will be greatly missed by many whose life she touched with Jesus love. She is survived by two sons, Travis Cox, III and his daughters Hannah and Sarah Cox, of Hampstead, NC, Robert Cox and his daughter Bailee Cox of Virginia Beach, VA; one daughter, Martha Anne Cox of Washington, DC, all whom she loved with all her heart; a very close cousin, Elizabeth Watts and many other loving cousins. In addition to her parents, her husband Travis Brian Cox, Jr., Commander, United States Navy preceded her in death.
