Ann Toohey

Obituary Ann Angela Toohey, 84, of Morehead City, died Monday, December 21, 2015, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016, at 11:00 A. M. at St. Egbert Catholic Church, with the pastor, the Rev. Thomas R. Davis, officiating. She was born in Manhattan, NY on December 15, 1931 to Mario Palumbo and Josephine Patane Palumbo. In 1949 she graduated from Yorktown High School, Yorktown, NY. She was a 1953 graduate of Russell Sage College and earned a masters degree in education from the University of Connecticut at Danbury. Mrs. Toohey taught at St. Patricks School, Yorktown Heights, NY and was principal of St. James School, Carmel, NY. She additionally served as interim principal of St. Egbert Catholic School, Morehead City, NC. She is survived by her daughter, Joanmarie Pondolfino and husband, Dr. Robert Pondolfino, of Rincon, Puerto Rico and granddaughter, Meaghan Marino. In addition to her parents, her husband, Robert Walter Toohey, and sister, Joan Eagles, preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Liberty Home Care & Hospice, 1206 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.
