Obituary Amanda Yvonne Hogan Ray, 28, of Newport died Monday, December 7, 2015, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, at Brooks Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating. She was born in New Bern, NC on March 21, 1987 to Ernest Dewayne Brown and Kimberly Diane Hogan. Amanda loved sports, the beach, animals, and fishing. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She is survived by her daughters, Kharma Yvonne Ray and Kari Evelyn Ray; husband, Kerry Ray; mother Kimberly Hogan Garner and her husband, Michael James Garner of Newport; father, Ernest Dewayne Brown of Newport; brother, Ernest Dewayne Brown, Jr. of Newport; maternal grandparents, Jessica Yvonne Ramsdell of Newport and Glynn Hoyle Hogan of Newport; aunt, Patricia Brown of Newport; uncles, Charles Prescott, Jr. of Wilmington, Mark Ramsdell of Hubert, Leigh Ramsdell of Raleigh and Brent Ramsdell of Nashville, NC, numerous cousins and many friends. Her paternal grandparents, Ernest Brown, Dorothy Brown, and Gloria Culpepper; aunt, Connie Melton and Brian Culpepper preceded her in death. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
