Virginia 'Ginger' Ann Donaldson

May 24, 1940 — March 15, 2020

Obituary Virginia "Ginger" Ann Donaldson, 79, of Newport, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at home surrounded by her beloved family. A private service will be held locally, with a private memorial celebration at a later date in Jackson, GA. Ginger was born on May 24, 1940 in Bowling Green, OH to the late Garold and Delabel Lee. On December 23, 1960, she married the love of her life, Jimmy Devon Donaldson and together they raised four children. Ginger was a grounded, loving homemaker who enjoyed many activities and pastimes with those she cared for most. She took pride in being a wonderful chocolatier and cheesecake baker, enjoyed seeing the world with her beloved husband and dear friends and thrived in her local church community, where she was a valued member throughout her lifetime, down in Jackson, GA and later in life at First Presbyterian Church in Morehead City. Ginger was a caring, gentle soul who watched over and tended to those she loved most every single day. Her life was full to the brim in every capacity. Any time you talked with her, she overflowed with stories of her travels Devon, memories with her family and she was always willing to lend a supportive ear and a caring hug to support others through hard times. Her positivity was infectious; she made it a priority to find joy in every single day and share that with others. She was known as a woman of strong morals who could be counted upon and relied on, someone who was always smiling, helping, doing, lending, mending, tending. She raised her family up to be big and strong in every way she knew how, with a pure selflessness that was undeniable to anyone who knew her. Ginger is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Jimmy Devon; her four children, Pamela Donaldson Wall (Husband: Bevin Wall; Children: Megan & Gregory Montague, McKenzie & Shane McCart, Madison Wall), Christopher Donaldson (Wife: Gretchen Donaldson; Children: Grace Donaldson, Olyvia Gander, Kyle Donaldson, Sofia Gander), Cynthia Melia (Husband: Luke Melia; Children: Alexander Melia, Jack Melia), and Amanda Donaldson; as well as one great-grandchild (Wyatt Montague), many nieces and nephews, and countless friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made in her honor to Community Home Care & Hospice, 662 W Corbett Ave. Swansboro, NC 28584 or to the First Presbyterian Church, 1604 Arendell St, Morehead City, NC 28557.
