Melissa Jane Silverstone

Melissa Jane Rockett Silverstone, 67, died on Monday, February 12, 2024, at her home in Emerald Isle, NC. She was previously a resident of Somers, CT and Woodbridge, CT.

She leaves behind her beloved children Elise of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Jared of Irvine, CA as well as Jared's wife Jenna and their newborn daughter Penelope. She also leaves her former husband, Philip Silverstone, with whom she continued to share a mutual love of their children.

Siblings John and wife Maria, Cynthia and husband Francis, Andrew and wife Martha, Todd and wife Jill and Jody and husband Wesley are left to remember Melissa. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Charlotte, as well as her brothers Peter and Phillip.

Melissa's greatest achievement, as well as her greatest joy, was raising her two children. She shared in all their childhood adventures, and raised them with great love to become the thoughtful and caring adults they are today. Melissa earned a BSN from the University of Connecticut School of Nursing and worked at the UConn hospital as a medical surgical nurse prior to the birth of her children. She earned two Master's degrees, from California State University and Fairfield University, and became an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. After her children were grown, Melissa devoted her time to working at various clinics that served disadvantaged and vulnerable populations.

A service in memory of her life will be held at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St. Somers, Connecticut at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday March 9, 2024.
