Obituary Mary Frazier Paul of Beaufort died on May 6, 2018 at Carteret Assisted Living Center in Newport, NC after a long illness. She was born in Morehead City on October 27, 1932 to Mary Clark Wilhelm and Grayden Muir Paul, Sr. She was predeceased by her devoted parents and by her loving brothers, Grayden Paul Jr. and Harry Paul. Mary Frazier spent most of her childhood in Beaufort. She was a former Miss Beaufort and was very involved in youth and choir activities at First Baptist Church Beaufort. She attended UNC-Chapel Hill and American University in Washington, DC. She remained in the Washington area for many years working in television and as an administrative assistant at Marjorie Webster Junior College. She was also a part-time fashion model. Mary Frazier was an excellent dancer and taught dancing for several Parks & Recreation programs and Arthur Murray Studios while living in Maryland. She moved to Ft. Pierce, FL in the mid-1970s. There she taught in public schools and enjoyed a long career as a creative writing and arts teacher. She was a longtime member of the Ft. Pierce Lawnwood Tennis League and the Treasure Coast Writers Guild. Mary Frazier was the author of seven romance novels. She returned to her beloved Beaufort every summer throughout her adult life to reconnect with friends and family. Upon retirement from the Florida public school system she moved back to Beaufort in 2014. Her other interests included boating, fishing and just about anything to do with being out on the water. She was a lover of cats and dogs and provided wonderful homes to multiple pets, most notably "Fat Albert" the cat, and "Watson" her faithful beagle companion. Mary Frazier was an accomplished musician and loved to entertain. She also had a great love of travel and traveled extensively throughout the United States, Cuba, Mexico, and Europe. She was kind and loving and will be greatly missed. Mary Frazier is survived by her nephew Gray Paul, his wife Sherri and their daughter Ami of Beaufort; nephew Allan Paul of Raleigh; and niece Kim Paul Zimmerman, her husband Tom and their children Ashley, Tristan and Devin of Bedford, NY. The family wants to sincerely thank the staffs of Carteret House and Community Home Care & Hospice for their wonderful care and attention to Mary Frazier. The family also wants to thank Carolyn Watson for her many years of devoted friendship and care. A graveside service will be held for Mary Frazier at Beauforts Oceanview Cemetery at 11AM on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Friends and family are invited to attend and participate in the service.
