Joseph 'Scottie' Chewning

Obituary Joseph Scott Scottie Chewning, 60, of Newport, died Saturday, September 26, 2015, at his home. At Scotties request, there will be no services. Scottie was born on January 30, 1955, in Oxford, NC to Nelson and Nancy Bowman Chewning. He served his country in the US Army and was in construction as a Superintendent of Quality Control. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Parker Chewning; daughter, Sarah P. Chewning; son, Joseph A. Chewning, and fianc, Kimberly Laughinghouse; mother, Nancy Bowman Chewning; sister, Wanda C. Carroll, and husband, Donnie; brothers, Brad Chewning, and Barry Chewning, and wife, Barbara; 2 grandsons, Donovan Joseph-William Chewning and Dylan Laughinghouse, all of Newport. Scottie was preceded in death by his father, Nelson Chewning. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to The Boys and Girls Club of Morehead City, P. O.
