Obituary John C. Frenzel, 66, of Morehead City, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023, at his home. In the early hours of September 21, 2023, John Charles Frenzel passed away surrounded by his family. A Millbrook, NY native for most of his life, he enjoyed the sun and ocean breezes living in Morehead City, NC for the past two years. John was born on July 28,1957 to Tony and Peggy Frenzel of Millbrook. After high school, he worked in Houston, TX for a few years and then returned to the Millbrook area. In 1987, he met and married his "cute little redheaded girl", Joan Whalen. In 1989, they celebrated the birth of their daughter, Margaret Ann ("Annie"), who was his pride and joy. In his first career, he was the pastry chef at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY for 12 years. He had the courage to go back to school for information technology, and he built a second career as the Director of Information Systems at Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties for 20 years. His favorite job was retirement! Throughout the first year of the pandemic, he undertook a new calling "Breadgifting", a grass roots project to bake bread and gift it to neighbors and friends in his community. He inspired many bakers across the country to do the same. John had the kindest heart and the funniest stories. He had a vast knowledge of and appreciation for music it was part of his soul. He was a self-educated master baker and a talented photographer. His love for dogs was infinite. He and Joanie traveled to Italy many times, making lasting friendships and amazing memories. John is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joanie; his beloved daughter, Annie Peters and her husband Jason; brother, Wayne Frenzel and his wife Carol Ann; sister Toni Lang and her husband Kevin, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents as well as his sister, Karen Tellerday. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Tonya Batten who took such gentle care of John in his last days. We would also like to thank his hospice team at 3HC, including Natalie Kennedy, Samantha Wallace, and especially Amanda Siggler for the care she gave to John as well as to Joanie, Annie, and Jason. A celebration of Johns life will be held at a future date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Johns name to the Hospice Program of 3HC (www.3hc.org/donate-now).
