Jerome Lynes

Obituary Jerome Lynes, 83, of Morehead City, NC died Sunday, March 13, 2016, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at St. Egbert Catholic Church, Morehead City, with the Rev. Thomas R. Davis officiating. He was born September 29, 1932 in Elizabeth, NJ to Dennis Joseph Lynes and Mary Ellen Quinn Lynes. Mr. Lynes was a 1950 graduate of Saint Benedicts Preparatory School in Newark, NJ, a 1954 graduate of Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA and a 1959 graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School in South Bend, IN. He served in the United States Army from 1954 1956. He was a former president of the Essex County Bar Association in Essex County, NJ, New Jersey Fellow of the American Bar Association and lecturer for and member of the American Inns of Court. In 1998 he retired as a member of Connell Foley LLP in Roseland, NJ and moved to Morehead City. In Morehead City he was a former president of the Brandywine Bay Owners Association and enjoyed golf and socializing with his many friends in Brandywine Bay. He is survived by his wife Anne M. Lynes; daughter, Cecilia A. Lynes and husband Jeff Gulya of Morehead City; sons, Colonel Jerome M. Lynes USMC (ret) and wife Mindy of Fredericksburg, VA, Timothy J. Lynes and wife Joan C. Morningstar of Washington, DC, James J. Lynes and Andrew Borthwick-Leslie of Brooklyn, NY; sister, Elaine Suso of Rye, NY; seven grandchildren, Kat Robb, Samuel J. Lynes, Ruth M. Lynes, Brandon Gulya, Jason Gulya, Robert Gulya, and Andrew Gulya; two great-grandchildren, Davin Robb and Kathleen A. Lynes; and 8 nieces and 10 nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 7:00 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service at 5:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
