James “Jim” Jablonski, 81, of Harkers Island, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Carolina Rivers Nursing and Rehab of Jacksonville, NC.
The family will celebrate his life privately.
A proud graduate of St. Francis High School in Toledo, OH, and the University of Toledo, James carried the spirit of his education throughout his life, embodying the values of dedication and lifelong learning.
James was a man of profound integrity and kindness, celebrated as a great husband, father, and friend. His unwavering commitment to his family was matched only by his dedication to his community, where he was an active member of the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce. His deep faith was reflected in his involvement with St. Egbert's Catholic Church and his service with the Knights of Columbus, where he was revered for his generosity and leadership.
One of James's most notable contributions was as the founder of the Harkers Island Military Fun Day, an event that showcased his passion for honoring those who served. This initiative not only brought joy to many but also demonstrated James's deep respect for the sacrifices made by military personnel and their families.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Suzanne Jablonski of Harkers Island; son, Dr. James Jablonski II and wife, Angela of O’Fallon, IL; daughter, Laura Wollenweber and husband, Scott of Waukesha, WI; grandchildren, Kendra, MinHa, Katie, and Nathan; three great grandchildren; sister, Diane Thompson of Sylvania, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Irene Jablonski.
