Edward 'Buster' Parnell

Obituary Edward A. "Buster" Parnell, 79, of Newport, died Tuesday, February 02, 2016, at Carteret Health Care, Morehead City. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Princeton Cemetery, with the Rev. Jerry Linebarger officiating. Mr. Parnell was born in Johnston County on December 6, 1936, to Gaston and Lyda Howell Parnell. Buster served his country honorably in the U. S. Navy. He was a long distance truck driver that drove well over 1,000,000 miles with no accidents. He is survived by a daughter, Susan P. Workman, and husband, Jim, of Chesapeake, VA; son, Edward J. Parnell, and wife, Carrie, of Hampton, VA; brother, Bobby Parnell, and wife, Joanie, of Rocky Point; sister, Patricia Riggs, and husband, Gene, of Newport; 5 grandchildren, Kenda, Krystal, Matthew, Thomas and Steven; 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Buster was preceded in death by his wife, Nina, and a brother, James G. Parnell. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made in Edwards name to Boys and Girls Home of NC, P. O. Box 127, Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450.
