Albert Thomas Cannady, Jr.

April 9, 1958 — February 24, 2024

Albert (Tommy) Thomas Cannady Jr., known to all as Tommy, passed away at the age of 65 on February 24, 2024, at ECU Medical Center in Greenville due to a stroke. Born on April 9, 1958, in Carteret County, Tommy was a man whose laughter and creativity brought joy to everyone around him.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home in Morehead City, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m.to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private interment will follow.

Tommy's education journey concluded at West Carteret High School in the 10th grade, after which he embarked on a career that saw him master the trades of welding, carpentry, and commercial fishing. His work ethic and dedication to his craft were admired by all who knew him, and his contributions to the community were significant.

An avid fan of NASCAR, Tommy could be found most weekends cheering on his favorite drivers and discussing the finer points of racing with friends and family. His passion for cooking was evident in the delicious meals he prepared, often sharing his culinary creations with loved ones. Tommy's woodworking skills were a testament to his creativity, with each piece reflecting the thoughtful and meticulous nature of its maker.

Those who knew Tommy will remember him as a man who could always be counted on to offer a funny quip or a helping hand. He was the embodiment of the words "funny, thoughtful, and creative," leaving a lasting impact on those he encountered.

In the words of Albert Einstein, "The value of a man should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive." Tommy's life was a true reflection of this sentiment, as he gave so much to his family, friends, and community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and joy.

Tommy is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Tabitha (Tabby) of Hubert; sons, Michael of Wilmington, Adam of Carteret County, Brandon of Craven County; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His presence will also be missed by his loyal dog, Yorkie, who was a constant companion through many of life's adventures. He is also survived by his sisters, Linnie Webster and her husband John and Connie Garcia and her husband Henry, who will remember Tommy for his quick wit and generous spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Linnie Cannady; his daughter, Stacy Lynn Cannady; and his younger sister, Becky Lynn Knight.

As we bid farewell to Albert (Tommy) Thomas Cannady Jr., we take comfort in the memories he has left us—memories filled with laughter, ingenuity, and love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him, and his spirit will continue to inspire us all. Tommy's journey through life may have concluded, but the stories and memories he created will ensure that he is never forgotten.
